Well it seems a new craft wave has hit the Stitched Up group – bobbin lace. Thanks to our experienced lace maker <a href="http://travelfibreandthread.blogspot.com/"title="Sue's blog, Travel Fibre and Thread" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/travelfibreandthread.blogspot.com');">Sue a few of us have been having a bash and picking up some lacey skills.

On Wednesday Laila was learning half stitch, whole stitch and twisted whole stitch:

This is what it looked like when it was finished. Pretty good for a first go eh?

<a href="http://pinkyandboo.blogspot.com/"title="Claire's blog - Pinky and Boo" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/pinkyandboo.blogspot.com');">Claire and I have also been learning lace making with <a href="http://travelfibreandthread.blogspot.com/"title="Sue's blog, Travel Fibre and Thread" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/travelfibreandthread.blogspot.com');">Sue and we’ve written a little more about it on our respective blogs (<a href="http://pinkyandboo.blogspot.com/"title="Claire's blog - Pinky and Boo" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/pinkyandboo.blogspot.com');">Pinky & Boo and <a href="http://www.victorialouise.co.uk/"title="Vicky's blog - Creating a sustainable style" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.victorialouise.co.uk');">Victoria Louise). <a href="http://travelfibreandthread.blogspot.com/"title="Sue's blog, Travel Fibre and Thread" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/travelfibreandthread.blogspot.com');">Sue shows us all how its done though and here is the beautiful piece she’s working on at the moment.

You can see more of Sue’s lace on her blog <a href="http://travelfibreandthread.blogspot.com/"title="Sue's blog, Travel Fibre and Thread" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/travelfibreandthread.blogspot.com');">Travel, Fibre & Thread.

Don’t worry though, we haven’t abandoned other crafts. Stitched Up still embraces crafts of all types. Here’s a little snapshot of some of the projects our stitchy ladies were working on this week.

Margaret’s crochet times table helper. How clever is this?..

Jacqueline and Jane know how short British summers are so they’re knitting socks ready for the winter…

Stefka has made this enormous bag with the fluffy trim to be felted. She was also creating her own embroidery design which you can see on the table…

Claire was crocheting these beautifully delicate irish roses. These will be included in some of her lovely hand made items that she’ll be selling at the <a href="http://www.artsandcraftfairs.org/page_1171729702609.html"title="West Bridgford craft fair" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.artsandcraftfairs.org');">West Bridgford Craft Fair on 17th and 18th July.

And I’ve been embroidering on the print of these pretty folky napkins which are soon to become cushion covers.

As you can see we’re a real mixed bag at Stitched Up and so are our crafty interests and skills. If you’d like to join us then <a href="http://www.stitched-up.org.uk/contact"title="Get in touch with Stitched Up" >get in touch, all crafts welcome!

Hi Ladies

Hope that you are well – just to let you know the rooms are booked until the end of Feb at the ICC -there has been a bit of confusion around which room we will be in specifically, but I am sure we can work it out between us all!

Vicky and i have been speaking to the lovely ladies of the Textiles Workshop in Sherwood and they have offered the use of their shop for Weds evenings although this may be a location problem for some – let us know and we haven’t committed to anything yet – all opinions are great and it may be that we try it for a week and see how we find it – it’s up to you guys.

Now I have managed to get myself logged on I think I will start posting some of my patterns on here (when I can get my head around saving the pdf’s….)

Hope to see you tomorrow

Claire xo
